I’m following the news about the horrifying struggle in Gaza on the edges of Israel. The humanitarian situation of the people of Gaza is heart breaking, and it seems that Israel has been pushed by Hamas to the ends of patience. So how does this end? And what can a person do to stop it? It reminds me of a situation we encountered on a hike in beautiful Catalina State Park in Arizona in early 2007. The snake and the lizard seemed to be bent on their mutual destruction. Presumably one of them started out looking for dinner – maybe it found it, we didn’t wait to see. We came, we saw, we watched, and then we left them alone. At least these two weren’t carrying the rest of their families, neighbors, communities, species into their death struggle….. What is wrong with us humans?
